Strength of Sandusky

Businesses

Downtown Delaware gains much of its strength from the multitude of businesses that either flourish or fail. As many new stores come and go, others continue to stake their claim as local staples. Whether they succeed or not, one thing is certain: Delaware is a coveted place for new businesses.

Delaware is one of the fastest growing counties in the state of Ohio. It has surpassed many towns comparable to its size in terms of occupancy and attraction. This project examines how the various components of downtown Delaware work together to make the area thrive. The past, present and future of Delaware is maintained through the efforts of its community. As this project unfolded, the faces of the town emerged and we saw that Delaware succeeds because of its people.

About the project

Economy

Sustaining a flourishing downtown is not a simple task. The city of Delaware works to ensure that any new businesses coming into the area will not only be able to stay open, but also contribute to the overall character of the area.

History

Delaware has continued to evolve since its founding in 1808. Hundreds of businesses have come and gone. In particular, Delaware has exhibited much of its growth within the past 20 years.
